The first example that I am using are memes. When I looked up memes I was already attempting to guess what type of memes would show up and what exactly would be on the meme. For one memes need to be funny in order to grab the attention of the audience that it is for. Most memes that I’ve seen have a lot of color, someone’s face. Also the memes can be anything it just depends on the type of audience or the type of message that you are trying to get across. You have memes specifically for sports, politics, school, etc. One thing that these memes have in common as well as that a lot of them the audience can relate to in specific situations of the audiences life which is why they are so popular. These situations can be from being annoyed, to hating work, being tired, etc. there are so many genres that memes can be branched off to.

My second example of the genre generator was one that I looked up on my own that interest me and that is video game ideas. There is so much that goes into video games and different type of video games. You know that a video game is a video game when there is violence, missions, side quest, creativity, puzzle solving, different fictional or real characters and storylines. All of these things appeal to different audiences. On the website that I used for this genre generator directed towards video games they suggest two genres and three themes. The genres that were selected are story-centric, and military combat. The three themes selected are resources, offices, manufactures. This shows especially for military combat that it is a huge deal in the video game industry and are story-centric. Some examples of these would be the Call of Duty series and the Battlefield series. When digging into these genres you can get a sense of what the game will have. If it needs military combat then of course you are going to have weapons in there, but what kind of weapons and then you star breaking it off at the different types of weapons. Also this would go into what the characters of that game would be wearing of course it would have to be military based as well. So basically the genre just keeps breaking down. Story-centric is another genre that can easily be broken down because there are so many ways you can go with it. It all depends on the kind of plot you want and what story you want to tell. The story can be adventurous, romantic, or funny. These stories can include action, mystery or horror.

I believe that thinking about what happens in these websites definitely helps better understand that every genre is different and has its own characteristics that go along with it. Also that the genres that you look up have genres within that branch off and have their own unique style. For me personally it has just helped it make it a little easier to breakdown genres and get really specific with it and that when creating things such as video games that there is more that goes into it.
